Makhotso is a Specialist Physician and a certified Nephrologist. She obtained her primary degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery – MBChB) at the Medical University of Southern Africa (Medunsa). She also holds a Master in Public Health Degree, with emphasis in Disaster Management, which she obtained through the University of the Witwatersrand. She is currently heading the renal unit at Leratong hospital in Mogale City, which involves dialysis and transplantation of patients.
Together with her husband, Dr Ray Billa, they are founder members of Faith Tabernacle Ministries, an externally focused church, based in Tshepisong Township, since 2010. She is passionate about Women empowerment, and believes in the motto: “Lift, As you Rise”
She is a registered Marriage Officer with the Department of Home Affairs. She is married for 32 years, and blessed with a son-Khensani, and a daughter-Tshepiso.
Her story is that of resilience, persevering against all odds to get where she is today.
